Industry 4.0 en IIoET
IIoET (Industrial Internet of Every Thing) is driving insights and efficiency in the (manufacturing) industry. Robots, automation technologies, sensor data, machine 2 machine (M2M) communication and machine learning (AI) work together to create autonomous smart machines, connected factories, smart grids and smart homes. IIoET adds intelligent connections between everything (devices, people, processes, and data). The IIoET systems make sensor data more meaningful and should provide a secure, usable infrastructure that lets actionable information be shared across the business ecosystem.
The NAF IIoET Expert group
The NAF (Netherlands Architecture Forum) organization started an IIoET expert group to investigate the impact of IIoET on the Enterprise Architecture. The IIoET expert group has defined an IIoET Enterprise Architecture (EA) framework which can be used to consolidate the findings and perform IIoET maturity checks. This IIoET EA framework covers the following 3 main topics;
1 Enterprise Application Management (EAM) 4 IIoET
The different kind of IIoET applications will serve different companies in different ways.
1 How will the E2E business processes and operating prolicies change the Ways of Working within the existing organization?
2 What are the required IIoET applications and how will they be aligned into the existing hybrid (ERP) application landscape ?
3 How will the IIoET applications be interfaced with the existing landscape and what integration platforms are required ?
2 Enterprise Information Management (EIM) 4 IIoET
As companies continue to collect more IIoET data from a variety of sources, EIM data management must integrate IIoET data on the devices and application data across the E2E IIoET data stream and avoid big data silos. EIM is responsible for ;
1 Alignment of the (IIoET) (master) data clusters across the landscape,
2 Integration of IIoET data insights into the (EDW) data model
3 Alignment of the IIoET reporting and data science analysis results with the E2E processes.
3 Business Transformation Management (BTM) 4 IIoET
Many companies are experimenting with IIoET use cases and determine the potential profitability. Companies must rethink their value propositions towards their customer segments and define the impact on the operating model and strategic business objectives. BTM is responsible for the;
1 Alignment of the operating model with the project portfolio,
2 Monitoring of the progress of the portfolio’s and projects
3 QA check on the IIoET projects according to the ITSM project methodology.

The IIoET workgroup is looking for NAF members !!!!
The IIoET workgroup is looking for NAF members who are willing to participate in one or more of these topics, to improve and extend the IIoET EA framework and execute IIoET maturity checks at various industrial organizations. Interested ? Please send an email to Frank.firstname.lastname@example.org More information can also be found in Frank’s articles on LinkedIn.
