Architecture Principles

Architecture principles are, when following the NAF definition of architecture, the cornerstone of enterprise architecture. While being a cornerstone, the concept of architecture principles has not yet received much attention. The aim of this working group is therefore to (amongst others):

  • Identify and define different uses of the concept of principles by the architecture community.
  • Identify requirements on principles as a means to enable enterprise architecture to actually limit design freedom.
  • More precisely define what principles are and the language in which they can be formulated.
  • Define process/methods enabling organization to (in a more predictable and mature way) produce architecture principles that address their actual concerns.
